St. Luke’s Men

St Luke’s Men have enjoyed a successful year of fellowship, fundraising and providing support to many facets of St Luke’s and the local community.   Meeting monthly at Elmer’s Restaurant there have been many interesting programs focused on local concerns,as well as visiting the far corners of the world.

Over the course of the calendar year St Luke’s Men,along with support by St Luke’s Guild, provided four wonderful fellowships and dining opportunities for friends and family which include the  Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, the January Chili Feed, the Fall Italian Dining Experience, and the Spring Western Cattlemen Barbeque.  In addition to being great dinners and special times together, these events are the primary fundraising venues for St Luke’s Men.  The funds raised have been used to provide fishing gear for the children of St Vincent’s and support for St Luke’s Men/St Vincent’s annual Fishing Day.  Other projects and improvements funded by St. Luke’s Men include the slide screen in the Parish Hall,a new snow blower, replacement of the kitchen sink, and a new desktop computer.  The Sunday School Kick-Off Coffee hour was also supported with these funds.  Mother’s Day is a very special day,and in honor of all mothers,St Luke’s Men host the coffee hour to honor that day.  St Luke’s Men are also busy during the holiday season and help decorate the church in fine holiday style.

Our speaker programs have included an informative update on the recent expansion and offerings of Coeur d’Alene Homes;Mike Dolan gave us a slice of life from the Civil War and details on his Explorer Scout initiative;Dave Otto shared his experiences with Oversea Adventure Travels and his eventful experiences in India.  Fr. Pat’s father,Bill Bell, gave a wonderful presentation including planes, trains and automobiles.  Other adventures  included  an Antarctica  adventure with  Barbra Campbell, and a China experience with Gloria Lund.  Fr.  David Marshall gave us a popular 3-part seminar and historical background presentation on Islam.

Everyone is welcome to join us for our meeting/get-togethers.  Check us out – WE HAVE GREAT PROGRAMS THAT YOU WOULD ENJOY PARTICIPATING IN!
