To St. Luke's Members:
I am very disappointed to report that we were not able to reach agreement with our candidate for Rector of St. Luke's. Our compensation offer did not meet the requirements of the candidate.
What is our path now? We had one other approved candidate who decided to accept another call and declined consideration.
After conversations with our Bishop the following is our plan:
1. We will immediately re-post our opening for another six weeks.
2. Candidates expressing interest will be forwarded directly to us for consideration. Our time frame should be much shorter this time as our Parish Profile is in place and we now have experience in the interview process.
3. We will continue to conduct services with supply priests.
According to our Bishop finding an interim priest is just as difficult as finding supply priests. We are grateful for the time and effort Fr. Rick and other priests have given, and will continue to give, to St. Luke's.
At this point it is easy to feel discouraged. After spending last Sunday afternoon making phone calls, sending emails and planning ahead, it was difficult to feel upbeat. All I can say is that after over twenty-five years of attending St. Luke's I have faith in our congregation and their ability to be flexible and supportive. Please know that we are working as hard as we can to find a new leader.
All of the Vestry members, as well as myself, are available to answer your questions and address concerns. I know there are many and I wish all could be answered easily. That may not be possible but we will do the best we can.
Repeating my mantra to all, patience, prayer and peace.
Ann Rule, Sr. Warden
