St. Luke’s is active in, and engaged with our community
Our Outreach and Engagement Committee organizes programs to donate money and goods to those in need, and to find ways to actively engage with those we help.
Tutoring adults working on high school equivalency. One doesn’t need to have teaching experience to be a tutor, just an interest in helping someone practice reading, writing or math skills on a one-on-one basis.
Partnering with The Literacy Project of North Idaho, which pairs members with an adult who wants to improve his or her reading skills.
A variety of support programs offered by the St. Luke’s chapter of the Daughters of the King, such as collecting school supplies for children at a local elementary school, maintaining a used bookshelf with profits benefiting the Safe Passage Center in Coeur d’Alene, and working with our local Girl Scout troop decorating new socks for women and children in local shelters.
Additional communities and programs we support include
- The Village at Orchard Ridge
- Family Promise of North Idaho
- St. Vincent de Paul’s H.E.L.P. Center
- Trinity Group Homes
- the KIVA loan program, and numerous Episcopal programs including Camp Cross, Episcopal Relief and Development, the Millennium Development Goals, and the United Thank Offering.
