A Letter from fr. david (Cont. from home page)

These will be expectations of everyone when we begin to gather again:
1. Keep physical distance of 6 feet apart from each other
2. Wear a mask in the building, especially during worship and gatherings (extras provided)
3. Wash hands before and after worship and gatherings
4. No hugs, kisses, handshakes, or elbow bumps with people outside your household
5. Show respect, warmth, and care for all who come
Obviously, do not come to church if you have any fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, sore throat, unusual muscle pains, or recent loss of taste or smell -- and get check as soon as possible by a physician! Also, if you are in a more vulnerable age-group or health status, you should feel no obligation to come to church -- indeed, it is probably better to stay away for a few additional weeks until we see how Idaho's Phase 3 has played out.
Please be sure to notify us if anyone in your household has been exposed to people or environments with COVID-19, or if anyone tests positive. We will hold you in prayer and offer support in any ways we can.
This season ahead will be different in worship and gatherings. As things become clearer about pathways of contagion and infection, it appears that indoor gatherings of people increase the risk of infection, through airborne droplets and "aerosoles." Singing seems to be especially risky, because singing expels more droplets and aerosoles than speaking or coughing and spreads them wider through the air. This is why choral societies and churches are restricting singing, postponing choirs, and withholding congregational singing. We will at most have 1-3 singers offer music for us.
So, we can begin steps to regather. Ushers and greeters, worship leaders, and groups and committees will need to review expectations, organize themselves, and prepare the church accordingly. We want to make our entry into this time as smooth as possible, so it will be important for people to play their roles well and to respect the guidelines we have set.
Thank you for your attention to these changes as we move forward. Keep in mind that we do all these things as ways to show care for others. We hold three primary aims in mind as we move forward, for all who come to St. Luke's:
1) Health and safety
2) Warmth, welcome, and care
3) Spiritual nurture and strengthening
Peace be with you all.
Fr. David
